Movies @ The Hilt is a relaxed community cinema where we show a recent movie and we try to give the audience the chance to select the upcoming titles. We dont operate a bar, but feel free to bring your own refreshments. We stop the film at some point for a short interval to give people the chance to have a few minutes natter and stretch their legs. We usually have ice creams on sale in the interval.

Every Wednesday, The Hilt opens its doors for a relaxed, friendly drop‑in designed to bring our community together. Whether you’re popping in for a chat, looking to meet new people, or simply want a cosy place to unwind, Welcome Wednesdays offer a warm space for everyone.

Enjoy free refreshments, good company, and the chance to connect with neighbours in a welcoming, informal setting. Stay for ten minutes or the whole 2 hours—there’s no need to book, and all ages are invited. Welcome Wednesdays is part of our commitment to making The Hilt a place where everyone feels at home. If you’re new to the area, curious about what happens here, or just fancy a midweek breather, we’d love to see you.

Friendly Fridays provides a meeting place for local residents to have ‘a nice cup of tea’ and a variety of home made cakes. Friendly Fridays is held fortnightly and is run by a team of voluntary helpers who make and serve the tea and cakes. There are many people who attend regularly and anyone is welcome to come along and enjoy a relaxing couple of hours in good company.

In addition, outside trips are run occasionally during the year. The local One Community service provides the transport and the venues are usually at a garden centre with either a cafeteria or restaurant.

Friendly Fridays is one of the most popular activities the Hilt Community Association runs and is an enjoyable, relaxing social event for all members of our community. We look forward to welcoming you.
